CAS-ual Fridays Stamps and CardMaker Magazine Blog Hop

Hello Folks! Today the fabulous teams at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps and CardMaker Magazine are joining forces to showcase all things floral. Fun! You may have come from CardMaker Magazine, but if not, feel free to head there to hop from the beginning.

This card uses several old and new CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, featuring a twirling ballerina from the popular Tutu (which is now back in stock), a sentiment from Puffy Heart Love, a subtle border of flowers on top from Full on Floral, and a textured ground from Starlequin. Lots of different sets, but they all go together so well!

For the tutu, I loosely watercolored the different flowers, and then decided it would be fun to make an additional tutu and layer on the first to let it really shine.

After masking off all but the bottom of the card and sponging ink to ground the sentiment, it still looked a little unfinished, so I stamped the harlequin pattern in the same color ink. The "Mwah" sentiment is inked with the lighter color orange first, and then some darker orange colors on the ends.

If you're in the mood for these, or other florals, there is an entire Florals section at CAS-ual Fridays. Don't forget, you can use the KELLY2017 code to get 15% off any of your stamp or die purchases there.

Your next stop on the hop is Jen Shults, who I'm sure has something gorgeous to share with you!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

W&W Rerun - Sugar Rush

Hi Folks! It's time to bring out another oldie but goodie at Winnie & Walter for the Rerun Challenge! This month we're featuring the birthday staple Sugar Rush. I've always loved that cupcake piled high with frosting, and the cute cake stand.

This week I had the pleasure of attending a mixed media class in Milwaukee taught by none other than Dyan Realveley, the self professed "weird one" at Ranger. Every time I see her at CHA my head spins as I turn through her art journals. Total fan girl. I don't have any experience with mixed media, but my admiration of Dyan's work is so high that it prompted me to enroll in her class so I could pick up a few things. She actually taught us how to create a basic page! It came down to this formula:

1) Pick three warm or cool colors.
2) Put a base coat of a light color on your surface
3) Blend in another color in a triangle around the card
4) Use a dark color to blend on the edges
5) lightly stencil in a triangle around the card with the lightest two colors
6) stamp a border

After making a few pages following these guidelines I decided to see what would happen if I made a card in this same manner. For the stencils I used Creative Screenings Scenery: Big Bang Circle, and Scenery: The Leaf Effect, and the border is from Scenery: The Party Hangover. It was a very fun experiment in letting go and not planning anything before putting ink to paper.

CFS Release - Puffy Heart Love

Hi Folks! It's official, I puffy heart love the new set from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps called ... Puffy Heart Love! What's not to love about this beautifully scripted font that incorporates a heart? It's the kind of stamp that can absolutely carry a card all on its own, without any other embellishments. For this card I stamped the sentiment directly to the black card base, and then again on the pink patterned paper. I cut inside the lines of the pink heart and adhered it on top of the black base.

The sentiment on this card is similarly embossed in white, and then I blended a rainbow of inks on the card base. After I was done I wasn't thrilled with how the heart blended in with the rest of the sentiment, so I made a mask by stamping the sentiment on a scrap piece of paper, cutting out the inside of the heart, and using it as a stencil to blend blue ink inside the heart.

After I was done, I just couldn't throw the stencil scrap away, so it got turned into a card! It's the bottom left card. Since I only intended to use it for a stencil, the black ink does not have a solid impression, but I thought it had a nice shabby chic look to it. The ink from the stenciling makes a nice spotlight on the heart. And since the inside of the heart was missing, I was able to easily see what patterned paper looked good by holding the stencil over a bunch of different patterns.

There are several other cute sentiments in this set, but I couldn't stop using the puffy heart one.

CFS Release - Mermaids

Hi Folks! Yesterday we got to meet all the pretty ballerinas in the current CAS-ual Fridays Stamps release, now today we get to see the adorable mermaids! This cutie is floating along in the ocean admiring the glittery pink shell she collected from the shore.

For the ocean, I dropped some water on the blended ink, and also stamped some bubbles that come with the set. To continue with the under water theme, the sentiments are actually made up of tiny bubbles!

There are several other stamps included with this set that I didn't use on the front of the card, so I thought they would work well on the INSIDE of the card, like the coral and starfish! The sentiment is another bubbly creation, and to finish the thought, I hand wrote "and" above it. Not everything needs to be stamped, right? This occurred to me after I spent 15 minutes looking for a set that has the right sized word "and" in it. So silly of me!

Check out the rest of the Ink Squad to see more awesome projects with these stamps. All the stamps you see this week will be released on Friday, August 4th. And don't forget, the code KELLY2017 works on everything, including retiring items, sale items, and even these new release items.

CFS Release - Tutu

Hi Folks! If you have any little girls in your life, you are going to love this new stamp set from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps! It's a set of ballerinas ... with flower tutus!! Ack. Adorbs!

This is one of the quickest cards to make, as you're only stamping this ballerina a couple times in different colors, and then the twirly sentiment below it. I added a few sequins to the tutu to pretty it up a little more. And that's it!

I love them all lined up like this and overlapping.

I used that same idea to create a whole troop of ballerinas in blues and greens (lighter images with second generation stamping) and then added the star of the show ... Ms. Pink Ballerina in the middle of her big ballet pose!

The sentiment is from an existing set called Whole Shebang and fits quite nicely with these pretty ballerinas.

CFS Release - Flower-Case

Hi folks! It's time for another CAS-ual Fridays Stamps release! You may remember the Flower Power set from the prior release that had a few words made of large letters filled with flowers. That set was pretty darn cool. Well now you can make your own words with those letters, as CAS-ual Fridays is releasing an entire alphabet with that style of letter!

As soon as I got them I knew they would be perfect for my twin cousins who are turning 5 this year, and I couldn't wait to spell their name in flowers.

I used sentiments from Whole Shebang above and below each girl's name, and then stamped the Curtis Background along the bottom. The first version of this card had everything on a straight line across the card, but I though it looked a little ho-hum. So I stamped it all on an angle and I think that gives it just the pop it needs.

If you need a lot of birthday cards, you could knock several of these personalized cards out in one sitting. There's really not a lot to them ... aside from putting the letters together, there are just three additional stamps to complete the card. No coloring, blending, piecing, die cutting, etc.

Check out the rest of the Ink Squad to see more awesome projects with these stamps. All the stamps you see this week will be released on Friday, August 4th. And don't forget, the code KELLY2017 works on everything, including retiring items, sale items, and even these new release items.

Studio Katia - 5 Ways to Use Kobi the Birthday Bear

Hi folks! I am super excited to be on the Studio Katia blog today, showcasing the most adorable Kobi the Birthday Bear stamp and die set (along with a few other stamps, dies and sequins). I really enjoyed meeting Katia at her booth at Creativation this year, and was quick to let her know how excited I was that her products were getting so much positive attention.

Aside from her fun collection of products, she's very kind, laid back, and just a joy to work with. I would love it if you'd stop by her blog and show some love and support.

Thanks so much,

w&w Rerun - Kindness with Evelin T Designs

Hi Folks! We have a new Rerun Challenge on the Winnie & Walter blog today, which means that we pick a stamp set from the archives and focus on using it throughout the month. This card uses the Kindness with Evelin T Designs set for everything, except for the faceted background pattern for the desert ground which is from Mini Scenery: Multifaceted

 Winnie & Walter, LLC

The Kindness sentiment is originally a straight line, but for this card I thought a curved sentiment would fill the space better, so I curved it on my stamping block. The cacti were masked before I stamped the yellow facets and sponged the yellow ink ... you can see the masks on the left of this photo. Then I watercolored them in green with tiny pink copic flowers. The scallop frame is left over from when I needed a panel of my favorite Essentials: Audrey Cutaways.

Head on over to the Winnie & Walter blog to find out details on how to win this set, and on how to participate in the challenge which is open throughout the month.

Winnie & Walter - Premier Day 4

As promised, here is the second cute-critter-set from the newest Winnie & Walter release. This one has lots of partying animals and is called "Happy Dance with Evelin T Designs."
They all immediately put a smile on your face!

Winnie & Walter, LLC

This stamp set and corresponding cutaways include several sentiments, cake, balloons, party hats, party streamers ... pretty much everything you need to throw a fabulous party!

The sentiment is the new In a Word: Party which I watercolored in green on top, fading into blue on the bottom. The secondary sentiment is from the newest Sentimental set. It magically happens to fit right in between the P and Y ... love it when things work out like that.

The second card for today has a background made from Scenery: Spotty Creative Screenings. I blended four different inks through the stencil, rotating and flipping it over in between inks. Before I started blending, I used the heart cutaway as a mask so I'd have white space in the center for my happy dancing bear. Doesn't he look like he's having the best time dancing? The tiny sentiment that comes with this set is perfect to not steal the focus.

I just love these fellas!

Be sure to check out the other amazing projects on the Winnie & Walter blog. As usual, leave a comment there for a chance to WIN all of today's goodies. The Big Giveaway is also going on with a chance to win the entire release!!

Well the release festivities are over now, but starting at 10:00 AM CST on Friday, June 30th you can place your order at Winnie & Walter for anything that caught your eye this week. Happy shopping!

Winnie & Walter - Premier Day 3

More release goodness from Winnie & Walter! As big a fan I am of the Welcome to the Family by Evelin T Designs set, you can imagine how thrilled I was to find out there are two similar sets coming out in this release! This set is called Party On by Evelin T Designs and features 4 different critters with amazing abilities to play music.

Winnie & Walter, LLC

I love it when an image is cute enough to carry a card on its own. Makes it so much easier to create! This is perfect for a kid's birthday card, which fortunately lines up with my goal to create a ton of kid's birthday cards this year. We have so many kids in the family, and I never have enough cards to send them for birthdays, which is quite embarrassing when you're known as the card maker in the family.

While the stamps were lined up on the Misti I made several extra panels that I can just color while watching a movie.

As cute as this fox is, pairing him with brown and blue makes for a perfectly acceptable card for little boys. Especially given the clean nature of the card. I've been in the habit of drawing a border around my panel or card with my Zig pen when something looks a little too plain. That usually seems to satisfy me.

Just one Zig Clean Color Brush Marker for this fella. Oh wait, I lied. I forgot I also used a super light gray on his face and tail to make it stand out slightly from the white background.

Then on the inside of the cards I continued the sentiment so the whole card reads "Make some noise ... We are going to party like it's your birthday." When Shay asked us awhile ago what kind of stamps we're personally looking for, the first thing that popped into my head was sentiments for the INSIDE of the card. I always feel like I spend hours on the front and then throw together something that doesn't look as good on the inside. It always bothers me. I am happy to report that I do not at all feel bothered with this card! I added three of the fox's friends in black and white to accompany the sentiment.

I just want to hug this little guy!

Be sure to check out the other amazing projects on the Winnie & Walter blog. As usual, leave a comment there for a chance to WIN all of today's goodies. The Big Giveaway is also going on with a chance to win the entire release!!

I'll be back tomorrow with the final day of the release party. Hope you'll join me!
